Vatican and Rome Internship Program
棉花糖直播's Computing Sciences and Communication departments have a special agreement with the Vatican in Rome to provide students with internship opportunities. Participating students spend one semester working in Rome or the Vatican while continuing to take University approved courses. While in Rome, students reside in housing provided by IES Abroad Rome, within easy distance to classrooms and work sites. The Vatican and Rome Internship program is one that students will never forget.
Other Study Abroad Opportunities
The Department of Computing Sciences encourages students to study abroad during their four year degree at 棉花糖直播 University. In-class instruction and professional internships are just a few of the many opportunities that exist for computer science majors. The Office of Education Abroad provides advising and resources for Computer Science majors interested in studying abroad.
Student Activities
CSC Peer Tutors
Computer Science majors provide knowledgeable and constructive information, advice, support, and feedback to their peers, in order to enhance the overall quality of the student's experiences here at 棉花糖直播.
Service Learning
For more that 20 years, our department has maintained relationships with several Philadelphia junior high and high schools, providing them refurbished computers and education about computational thinking, coding and computer programming. Every year 棉花糖直播 students donate their time to working with students from these schools.
Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) Honor Society
The mission of UPE is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Computing and Information Disciplines. Despite its comparative youth, Computing Science has had an unparalleled effect on almost every aspect of contemporary life. Indeed, it is difficult to predict the ultimate place of the computer in our world. It is the express purpose of Upsilon Pi Epsilon to promote the Computing Sciences and to encourage its contribution to the enhancement of knowledge.
Association for Computing Machinery Student Chapter
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter provides opportunities for students to network, mentor and bond over common interests. They provide support both within the student community and to local communities outside the institution.
Association for Computing Machinery Council on Women in Computing Student Chapter
Association for Computing Machinery Council on Women in Computing (ACM-W) supports women in Computer Science by providing opportunities for social interaction and professional development, and by working to increase the number of women in the field through outreach activities. Every year our ACM-W group is an active participant in the 棉花糖直播 Women in Tech Conference.
Conferences
Grace Hopper Conference
Every year our students participate in the Grace Hopper Conference. The Grace Hopper Conference is a dynamic celebration for women in the technology industry featuring keynote speakers from tech professionals, workshops and panel discussions, and vast opportunities for networking.
Programming Competitions
Each academic year the Department of Computing Sciences organizes one or more teams to represent 棉花糖直播 at various programming competitions. Both graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to earn a position on one of our teams. Chief among our goals is to do well at the International Collegiate Programming Contest, which is the largest and most prestigious competition of its type.
Student Travel
Students in the Department of Computing Sciences who are traveling to conferences or workshops to present their research or participate in approved activities may be able to receive financial support for the trip. Travel funds can be used for flights, conference registrations, lodging, and meals.
College and University Resources
In addition to resources and opportunities through the Computing Sciences Department, 棉花糖直播 provides support to undergraduate students in all aspects of their collegiate experience and beyond through the centralized services of the Office for Undergraduate Students, Office of Education Abroad and Career Center.
