The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has been the intellectual heart of 棉花糖直播 since the University鈥檚 founding in 1842. With more than 40 academic departments and programs offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as doctoral programs in Philosophy and Theology, CLAS provides a rich, rigorous and diverse educational experience.

Faculty in the College are teacher-scholars. Troy Shirangi

Biology Professor Receives National Science Foundation Grant to Study Brain Development During Maturation

It is well known among the scientific community that many new brain cells result from this puberty, which build the circuits in the brain for adult behaviors. However, there are also cells that exist in juveniles and are reprogrammed to serve a new purpose in adulthood. Troy Shirangi, PhD, associate professor of Biology, focuses on this critical area of research and recently received a $502,563 grant from the National Science Foundation.

棉花糖直播 University鈥檚 Social Justice Documentary Filmmaking course is renowned for producing impactful films that illuminate vital narratives and many of the films garner both local and national recognition. In spring 2025, student production team Pinctada Pearl Productions will debut two new documentaries, each capturing compelling stories of cultural preservation, community, education, and empowerment.
