VSB FOR NON-BUSINESS STUDENTS

Below are programs to which full-time, matriculated ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ students from Engineering, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Science may apply.  These application-based programs are delivered through different modalities and have different application and decision timelines and criteria.

SUMMER BUSINESS PROGRAMS

SUMMER BUSINESS INSTITUTE

VSB’s Summer Business Institute (SBI), a full-time, 16-credit program, provides an opportunity for ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ students to earn a Business Minor and non-ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ students to earn a Business Certificate – the equivalent of a business minor. The program focuses on finance, economics, accounting, marketing, management, analytics and information technologies. Created exclusively for non-business majors in 1997, SBI has educated more than 2,000 students in the fundamentals of business.

SUMMER BUSINESS ACADEMY

SBA is a new four-week summer program for students interested in an exposure to the business world. Students earn six credits in a cohort-based model. This  program provides a credentialed, virtual, experiential business education, offering students a global business perspective. SBA is based on well-established courses and teaching from VSB and SBI. Upon completion, SBA students will earn a certificate in business.

ACADEMIC YEAR BUSINESS MINOR PROGRAM

VSB’s Academic Year Business Minor program is administered by the Clay Center at VSB and is designed for full-time undergraduates enrolled in other ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ colleges. Students admitted to the program take a required set of courses directly from the business core curriculum and are in class with VSB students during the academic year.

INTERNAL TRANSFERS

Internal Transfer admission to the ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ School of Business is competitive. Admission decisions are based on admission credentials and current academic records. Generally, these criteria must be comparable to those of students accepted as first-year students in VSB. Interested students must attend an information session prior to applying.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS FOR NON-BUSINESS STUDENTS

In addition to the competitive Internal Transfer and Business Minor programs (Academic Year and Summer Business Institute programs), there are several other academic and extracurricular opportunities in which students can actively participate and thereby expose themselves to VSB and the external ‘business community’.
