Students enrolling in the Master of Science in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health may be interested in becoming licensed to practice counseling. Each state/jurisdiction has unique educational and prerequisite requirements that candidates must meet in order to obtain certification and/or licensure.

Students enrolling in the Master of Science in Counseling, School Counseling will likely be interested in becoming certified in school counseling. School counseling certification is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education in each state. As such, ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s counseling programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and meet the educational requirements to obtain certification as a school counselor in Pennsylvania. ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ has made no determination, and does not guarantee, that our curriculum satisfies the educational requirements for school counseling professional licensure/certification in other states. However, most states through the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement will allow out of state prepared educators to transfer their school counseling certification. It is strongly recommended that students who live or are planning to live outside of Pennsylvania and who are enrolled in our programs contact their state’s department of education for their state’s specific educational requirements. It is also recommended that students obtain their PA certification first then apply for certification in another state. The Master of Science in Counseling, School Counseling does not meet the educational requirements in any state to become licensed to practice counseling. Students enrolled in the Master of Science in Counseling, School Counseling interested in becoming licensed to practice counseling in a particular state should meet with someone from the Department of Education & Counseling to review the requirements for that state alongside their planned course of study.
