Dr. Gerard Jones Published as Author of New Book, Gravity-Driven Water Flow in Networks

Dr. Gerard F. Jones, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, is the author of the newly published textbook, Gravity-Driven Water Flow in Networks. Dr. Jones wrote this resource to give engineers, designers, and technology specialists working in or for developing countries and rural areas insight into the analysis and design of gravity-fed water networks.

Dr. Jones draws on his experience as a project engineer at a large oil refinery during and immediately after his baccalaureate engineering degree and from leading annual service-learning trips to Latin American countries, where engineering students work with local villagers to develop and install reliable gravity-flow water systems. 鈥淭his book provides solutions to problems associated with creating a sound gravity-driven water pipe network and explains how to maintain its functionality under a variety of environmental and geological pressures.
