ASME鈥檚 Philadelphia Section Taps Dr. Aaron Wemhoff for Chairman

Dr. Aaron Wemhoff, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Aaron Wemhoff, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected the 63rd chairman of the Philadelphia section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In this role, Dr. Wemhoff will oversee events and activities for the section, which supports more than 1,400 members from the mechanical engineering industry, as well as professionals from related engineering disciplines and science industries, throughout the greater Philadelphia area.

鈥淚 am pleased to continue my service to an organization that is dedicated to providing important professional development, networking, and resource-sharing opportunities to the Philadelphia area鈥檚 mechanical engineering professionals,鈥 says Dr. Wemhoff, whose term began July 1 and will continue through 2011.

A member of ASME since 2000, Dr. Wemhoff has served in a variety of leadership positions for the section, including Junior Director and Board Member at Large. He is also a member of the Heat Transfer Division K-20 Committee, has chaired sessions at the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) and Summer Heat Transfer conferences, and has served as a reviewer for both of these conferences as well as the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer.

As part of the Philadelphia Section Board, he initiated the Early Career Engineering Barbecue, the Philadelphia Section Lifetime Service Award, the Philadelphia Section Faculty Advisor Award, and the Philadelphia Section Chair Award. He has also been active in Section K-12 outreach activities such as performing Engineers Week school visits and serving as a judge at both the Delaware Valley Science Fair and the Philadelphia Future Cities Competition.
