Graduate Student Funding Opportunities
Below you will find a list of funding opportunities available to graduate students across the University. Please note that these funding opportunities come in several forms and you should make sure you understand the type of position to which you are applying:

- Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) (hourly pay only, no tuition or stipend)
IMPORTANT: The majority of ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s funding opportunities for graduate students come from the departments, and most graduate programs on campus have departmental funding. The positions listed on this page require a separate application process, and are outside of academic departments in various centers, offices, and institutes across campus. Please read the descriptions, deadlines, and application requirements listed here carefully—especially since each one is different.
Please keep in mind that if you are an applicant to a graduate program and have not yet received an admission decision you can proceed in applying to the below positions. However, if you are not admitted to the graduate program of your choice at any point during the application process for the below funding opportunities your application for funding will no longer be considered.
FALL 2024 OPENINGS
- Description: The Office of the Registrar is seeking a graduate student for the role of Project Coordinator on our Communications Team to support the office with a variety of projects and responsibilities including creating content for a community newsletter, formatting and designing a newsletter within a communication software tool, preparing mass email reminders for students and faculty, updating the office webpages, preparing presentation slides, creating materials to promote special events, and maintaining the office communication calendar.
- Compensation: $13/hr
- Eligibility: Applicants should have excellent time-management skills, strong writing and listening skills and the ability to manage a variety of moving parts of a project.. Candidate should have completed an undergraduate degree and currently seeking a ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ graduate program in a writing intensive area, and/or in communications or marketing.

SPRING 2025 OPENINGS
- Description:  Resident Assistants (RAs) are undergraduate and graduate students available to assist with personal issues, academic needs, housing questions, facilities concerns and more. RAs provide leadership and guidance for residents, plan events, provide opportunities to meet new people and learn new things, and hold periodic meetings to share information and review community policies. The Office for Residences houses RAs in all of our 31 on-campus residence hall.

- Description:  The Center for the Common Good is seeking a dedicated and motivated Graduate Assistant to support our mission of forming justice-oriented people who serve with our local and global partners and who advocate for systems that advance the Common Good. The Graduate Assistant will work in direct partnership with ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ student leaders who are interested in facilitating Social Justice Forums for students and other ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ community members. Preferred candidates must be accepted graduate students within a two-year program who are self-starters, have a passion for their work, and want to see social justice in the world. The Graduate student for social justice may be needed to support the local service program as a whole by driving student volunteers to community sites and connecting directly with community partners, either as a volunteer, or in a site visit capacity.

FALL 2025 OPENINGS
- The College of Engineering has open positions based on available funding and current projects. Please review the College of Engineering Graduate Assistantship website for open positions.
- Description:  The Library Technology Graduate Assistant is a technologist who applies a wide range of technical and organizational skills to assist the Falvey Library Technology department with software development, automation management, systems administration, and related duties. This position is 20 hours per week and presents an excellent opportunity to gain a wide range of experience, build a technology portfolio, and participate in open source projects. In a fast paced team environment, the GA will join a collaborative team effort to develop software and apply technology to support the Library’s and University’s strategic goals. The Falvey Library Technology Graduate Assistantship includes full paid tuition and a monthly stipend.
- Eligibility: Enrollment in a ÃÞ»¨ÌÇÖ±²¥ graduate program with clear application to duties is required. An undergraduate degree in a technology-related field is strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated programming proficiency (through relevant work experience or open source contributions) required.
- Working knowledge of web development languages, tools and interchange formats, including HTML, CSS, JSON/XML, scripting languages (Javascript and PHP preferred) and SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL preferred).
- Familiarity with commonly used development frameworks and libraries (such as React or Express for Javascript and Laminas, Laravel or Symfony for PHP) preferred.

- Description: The Learning Support Services (LSS) Graduate Assistantship is a two-year position, providing a wide range of services to support all students attending the university. The GA needs to be creative, flexible, patient, and student-centered. The individual must be able to work in a confidential environment to advance self-awareness and self-advocacy for each student. This position will primarily be responsible for providing academic coaching around time management, organization, and study strategies, as well as overseeing the LSS social media accounts. The LSS Graduate Assistantship includes full paid tuition and a monthly stipend.Â

- Description: The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) is a paraprofessional member of the Office for Residence Life. Responsibilities include the overseeing of daily operations of assigned hall(s), including student staff supervision, building maintenance, planning and implementing community building efforts, policy enforcement, and crisis intervention. GRDs serve in the primary on-call rotation after hours. In addition, each GRD will be given one collateral assignment in the Office for Residence Life based on interest, experience, and skills. GRDs are supervised by the Area Coordinator for Residence Management for their designated area. The GRD is a part-time, 10-month, live-in position. Compensation consists of graduate tuition remission for a maximum of 12 credits each semester, a waiver of room charges and a 100 Block Plan. GRDs also receive a cash stipend paid bi-weekly from August through May.

- Description: The Graduate Student Outreach Assistant works in the Office for Undergraduate Students to manage outreach efforts for the office including development of social media content, newsletters and communications to undergraduate students, and co-advisement of a student group. The position will also support the office through providing front desk coverage for the office, assessing and directing student, faculty, and staff inquiries to the office. This position offers the opportunity for the graduate student to gain practical experience in an office that offers academic advising, retention/student support, professional development, health professions advising, and academic operations. This position includes a Tuition Scholarship (tuition remission provided in exchange for 7 hrs/week) plus GAH (graduate assistant hourly rate of $18/hr for 10 hrs/week).

- Description: The Graduate Assistant works in the Office of Research Protections to assist Office of Research Protections staff, in operations of the University’s major research compliance initiatives. Tasks include: Review and complete regulatory documentation and records Facilitate institutional review of research activity 5-10 hours/week animal care work required (husbandry tasks such as food/water changes, cage cleaning, welfare checks) Updating ORP communication methods (website, Twitter, etc). Work experience required. Strong administrative and writing skills required. Experience working with laboratory animals desired. Applicants must be able to carry objects up to 30lbs and climb stairs while doing so. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for extended periods of time. Confidentiality agreement required. Good interpersonal skills required. Position requires interaction with students & employees. Ability to deal discreetly with sensitive information. This position includes a full paid tuition and a monthly stipend.
