Joseph DiGiacomo Internship

The Center for Advanced Communications has established an internship in memory of Joseph DiGiacomo ‘58 EE who founded the CAC in 1990. Mr. DiGiacomo believed that for the Center to accomplish its mission, it must develop a nurturing and creative environment in advanced communications education and research that will serve and guide students by linking them to the industrial community.

A $5,000 summer internship is available to a junior Electrical Engineering student interested in signal processing and wireless communications. The scholarship also provides $2,500 to support the student during their senior year.

Requirements include:

  • An overall GPA of 3.25 or higher at the time of application
  • Cover letter
  • Transcript
  • A brief essay describing the applicant’s research interest, particularly in the areas of signal processing, wireless communications, and antennas with applications in wireless networking, radar, and acoustics/ultrasound

Application deadline is January 31st. Required materials should be submitted to Dr. Moeness Amin, Director, Center for Advanced Communications, Room 119 Tolentine Hall.

The internship recipient(s) will be selected by the center director by mid-February.

The successful applicant will spend approximately 10 hours a week, working closely with CAC graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research professors and professors. The work will be related to an ongoing CAC grant or contract from a government or industrial sponsor.
