A STEM-designated degree program meets criteria of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). DHS maintains a list of approved fields of study which qualify for this designation.

Yes, VSB offers the following STEM-designated degree programs:
the Management Information Systems (MIS) major at the undergraduate level, and
the Master of Science in Finance (MSF), the Master of Accounting with Data Analytics (MAC), and the Master of Business Taxation with Data Analytics (MBT) at the graduate level.
What are the benefits of a STEM-designated degree program for international students?
Typically, international students are eligible to work in the U.S. for 12 months in order to gain work experience in their field, known as optional practical training (OPT). Students who complete a STEM-designated program and are working in their direct field of study can apply to potentially extend their F-1 visa up to an additional 24 months for STEM OPT.
