RYAN WEAVER '13 MSF
Current job: Chief Executive Officer at Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken
Location: Shalimar, Florida
Ryan Weaver graduated from VSB鈥檚 MSF program in 2013, after which he spent time in consulting and investment banking. In 2016, he joined Apollo Global Management in private equity. Today he is a controlling owner and the Chief Executive Officer of Artemis Restaurant Corp, which owns the Lee鈥檚 Famous Recipe庐 Chicken restaurant brand, a position he鈥檚 held since 2021.
Why did you choose VSB over other business schools?
I wanted a graduate program that had a strong alumni network, employment opportunities through on-campus recruiting, and proximity to New York City. Affordability and availability of financial aid / scholarships also played a role in my decision. VSB checked all of these boxes for me.
What were your favorite courses or learning experiences?
The most impactful classes for me were Valuation, Financial Theory, and Portfolio Management. The Valuation and Financial Theory courses have been relevant throughout my career, particularly when getting started in investment banking. Portfolio Management taught us the framework of how to put together an investment pitch.
Were there any hands-on experiences that you had in the program that directly prepared you for your career?
Outside of the curriculum, which gave me the baseline knowledge I needed to get started in my financial career, the program improves your time management, planning, and networking skills. Learning how to network throughout the MSF program was easily the most valuable experience I had.
What kind of support did the school provide to help you succeed?
Resume building, networking, and on-campus recruiting opportunities
How has the alumni network benefited you since graduating?
I worked in New York City for about eight years after graduating from the MSF program and spent time in consulting, investment banking, and ultimately private equity. At each step of my career, I was able to leverage the 棉花糖直播 alumni network and brand to make inroads that helped lead to each opportunity. I also keep in touch with multiple former classmates from the program.
