You and your students can create and upload content using a laptop, tablet, mobile phone, or built-in hardware in the classroom listed above.

After creating your content, you can manage and share it within your course, securely with specific people, or openly with a larger audience. Mediasite works well with our Learning Management System, allowing you to add your instructional media to your courses.

Automated recordings consist of the room鈥檚 video, audio, and computer output displayed on the projector.

Faculty can share individual lecture recordings with a single student or the entire class on a case-by-case basis. Alternatively, faculty can post a single link to the full collection of their course recordings to their LMS course page for students to access throughout the semester.

For detailed instructions on how to do this, please review or contact your College's Instructional Designer.

The ability to revisit content has shown to be valuable to the learning process (see 鈥淩eferences鈥 below). Recorded classroom lectures were overwhelmingly highlighted by students as an invaluable learning tool in survey responses collected over the 2020-2021 academic year.

These recordings are particularly useful to students for:

  • Reviewing materials
  • Revisiting complex topics or getting clarity on points students may have misunderstood
  • Allowing students to focus on engaging in discussions during class rather than taking notes
  • Adding to or taking notes on the lecture
  • Preparing for exams
  • Improving the overall learning experience

These recordings can be highly beneficial to students with learning support needs, students who miss lectures unexpectedly due to illness, nonnative English speakers, and those who otherwise need to review the materials.

To enhance transparency and build trust, it is essential to inform your students in the course syllabus if you are recording your classes. This practice not only sets clear expectations but also promotes a respectful learning environment.
